Dresses

I stand waiting
To become a priority
A familiar pose
But fitting now
Like a high school prom dress
But as a woman the curves
Now have more danger
The children that have lain within high neck selections for prom party
Giving form a different stature
And the innocent lines
Of days past
Have become ill fitting
The dresses i wear now
Speak to experience
And they say
They need to be wanted
Need to be felt with care
Washed in love
And considered carefully
Hung with pride
Not thrown on the chair
To be worn on only occasions
That suit the needs
Of the wearer
The beading too rare
Beautiful
And sewn in the days
That all things were made
With better things
Than those on assembly lines
Of today
